The Old Convent

Sun 19 Jan 2014: Today after lunch I headed up to the neighbouring parish, St Mary to visit an old derelict Catholic Convent situated next to the Church of St Mattheiu. I didn't have anything planned but often I have driven past this monument of a large grey building and wanted to get out and explore the area. So, that is what I did. These pictures are some of the places and people I met along the way.

St Mary is one of the smallest parish in terms of population and is situated in the North West and covers an area of 6.5 km². It is a rural farming community, including many equestrian liveries and there are vineyards in the parish. The Elms is a good example of Jersey architecture and houses the headquarters of the National Trust for Jersey. The parish also enjoys a section of the North Coast path, with excellent views across to the other Channel Islands.
